Desperate search for 17-month-old girl who was in her father’s car when it was stolen but wasn’t in it when the car was found

A desperate search has began to find a 17-month-old girl who was in her father’s car when it was stolen in east London earlier this afternoon but wasn’t in the car when it was found.

Maria Tudorica, a Romanian, was in the front passenger seat of her father’s black Audi A5 when he left the car to meet a man interested in buying the vehicle at around 4.40pm. But when her father got out of the vehicle the would-be buyer jumped into the car and sped away with the little girl in it. The car was found abandoned on Hathaway Crescent, Newham, a short while later without the toddler inside.

Police have said the little girl is from the local area and was wearing a white top and red bottoms. The man who took the car is described as an Asian man of slim build, dressed in black clothing.
